Mailman, Mailman, What Did You Bring??!!

Today I went to get the mail and had a bunch of packages waiting for me. They were all exciting parcels. Ray's passport came in and then I got two boxes from a company in Canada that sells the cutest hair care products for little black girls!! I can't wait to unpack it! Oh!! I can't wait....

Hang on while I go unpack.....

Okay, so here's what I got!

My Box of Basic Hair Products

There is special shampoo, moisturizer and detangler specially for little black children. Then I got the basic starter kit for beading their hair. Lots of pretty beads with bows, and flowers, and butterflies. I also got snaps. Snaps are tiny little barrettes that go on the end of their tiny little braids. They are about 1/2 cm in size. To do a little girl's hair takes about two hours! But in Africa, 'doing hair' is a cultural thing and the girls & women will sit around talking and doing hair for hours. I have seen pictures of groups of girls (big and small) sitting around doing each other's hair.

I bought a box of multi coloured bows.

These little snaps bend in half and the jeweled side goes on top. I bought some black ones and some pastels ones.

Below are some really nice examples of beading. There are so many geometrical designs to be done and ways to have the beads hanging. You can do many beads or few.

I have no interest in buying little girl's clothes in anticipation of our adoption, but I couldn't resist buying the hair products. I think since creativity is who I am, it makes sense that this is the one thing that I couldn't resist buying!!! Think how creative I can be!
